Core systems map
Drivers are the party members you control. Blades determine each Driver’s weapon, element, Arts, and role bias (Attack, Tank, or Healer). A Driver can eventually engage up to three Blades and swap mid-fight after cooldowns. Combat loops through auto-attacks into Driver Arts, Blade Specials, status-based Driver Combos, elemental Blade Combos, Fusion Combos, and full-party Chain Attacks.
Outside combat, affinity charts unlock Blade skills and Field Skills used in exploration. Merc Missions send unused Blades away for rewards. Poppi, Tora’s artificial Blade, levels through the Tiger! Tiger! minigame and ether crystal crafting rather than standard affinity progress alone.

Original Switch and Switch 2 Edition
The original Xenoblade Chronicles 2 launched on Nintendo Switch on December 1, 2017, developed by Monolith Soft and published by Nintendo. The Expansion Pass includes the Torna ~ The Golden Country story campaign and additional Blades and quests.
The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition upgrades presentation to up to 4K in TV mode and full HD in handheld at 60 frames per second, adds the new rare Blade MOMO with a dedicated quest, introduces Merc Assault action battles for mercenary missions, and unlocks new Pyra and Mythra outfit designs used in both exploration and cutscenes. Owners of the original game can buy the upgrade pack separately.
